OUR SOLUTIONS
ANTI-WASTE

ALL OUR SOLUTIONS

With our current technical and technological advances, we know that cleaning up the seas and oceans is a utopia.

Based on this observation, and in order to definitively stop this process of contamination, we have decided to act directly on the channels of dissemination of these pollutants, at the level of the land-sea interface.

WHY ACT

Understanding The Pollution Process

Contrary to popular belief, most of the waste that contaminates our seas and oceans originates hundreds of kilometres inland.

Thrown on the ground as a result of incivility, or abandoned purely by accident, this waste, if not collected in time, will be inexorably dispersed by the wind and the rain.

Present in their millions along pavements and roads, they will end up inside our rainwater collection networks, reaching rivers, lakes, streams and eventually the sea.

Storm overflows in combined sewer systems also contribute significant amounts of waste to the environment.

Our responsibility is to equip each site at risk, in order to stop the dispersion of these pollutants and thus prevent their deleterious effects on aquatic ecosystems and human health.

Intercepting Waste: A Matter Of Urgency

The progressive colonisation of natural environments by human waste is much more than an environmental threat. In their final stage of fragmentation into micro and then nanoparticles, these billions of pollutants now contaminate our entire ecosystem. This pollution, invisible to the naked eye, spares no geographical area of the world, including the Arctic ice pack.

Present in the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat, there is no longer any doubt that these pollutants will eventually alter our metabolism and our own vital functions.

Plastics contain a multitude of chemical additives which, when present in high concentrations in living organisms and in the human body, are likely to become endocrine disruptors and carcinogens (source IPEN International Pollutants Elimination Network- 14 December 2021).

• 1kg of Arctic ice contains up to 12,000 plastic particles

• 4 out of 6 human placentas are contaminated with nano-plastics.

• 1 human being consumes the equivalent of a credit card per week.

• Nano plastics have been found in human blood and lungs.

• 20 million tonnes of waste are dumped in the sea every year (source: IFREMER).

• 24.4 trillion pieces of micro-waste are suspended in the ocean (source IFREMER).

• 98% of the waste ends up sinking and can no longer be collected.

• 1 million birds and over 100,000 marine mammals die each year.
