Phero Lupus Pro Drop®
Innovative herd protection method through territorial mimicry and behavior modification. A practical, complementary tool leveraging olfactory signals to enhance herd welfare and calmness as part of a comprehensive protection strategy.
A practical, complementary tool that leverages olfactory signals (pheromones) as part of a comprehensive protection strategy.
The Challenge
Wolf attacks represent a real risk for sheep and goat farms. Despite established protection measures, field experience shows that complementary tools are needed—ones with low operational cost and full respect for the environment.
What Are Pheromones?
Simply put: Pheromones are nature’s “invisible language”—scent messages that animals perceive through smell and that influence their behavior.
More technically: They are chemical messengers that affect animal behavior and physiology. Pheromones have been used for decades in ecology and population management.
How Phero Lupus Pro Drop Works
The product is not a repellent. It is an odor diffusion device that reproduces, through an absolutely biomimetic process, the natural scent used by a wolf or pack to mark their territory. Since wolves are highly territorial animals, they naturally avoid entering another pack’s living area. By creating this “wolf atmosphere,” Phero Lupus Pro Drop acts on the predator’s behavior, exerting a calming function that eliminates its urge to hunt in that specific area. Concurrently, the equipped herd feels more secure, feeds more freely, and experiences improved welfare. It is applied using a holder attached to the animal’s collar and works as a complement to existing protective measures.
Note: Effectiveness may vary depending on terrain, season, predator pressure, and correct application.
Core Principle of the Idea
GPS tracking shows how wolf packs avoid each other’s range.
On the left, the movements of wolves from six different packs are shown, clearly demonstrating that the packs avoid entering one another’s territories.
Pilot Applications
Pilot Applications in Greece & Europe (France, Switzerland)
We have implemented pilot programs under real farming conditions. Upon request, we provide a summary of the application conditions, methodology, and key findings/results.
Position in the Protection Strategy
Fences and physical barriers form the foundation but involve significant installation and maintenance costs.
Guard dogs offer strong deterrence but require training and continuous care.
Surveillance (cameras, patrols) improves early warning but increases labor hours.
Phero Lupus Pro Drop Phero Lupus Pro Drop works as a complementary solution: it delivers a territorial mimicry olfactory signal, is quick to apply, has low operational costs, and does not disrupt the herd’s daily routine.
